The most famous building on the Passeig de Gracia in Barcelona is the Casa Batlló (1904-1906), redesigned by Antoni Gaudí for the industrialist Josep Batlló i Casanovas in the Modernist style. The building recalls the legend of the Catalan patron saint Sant Jordi, the roof as a scaly dragon's back, the tower as a lance.
The building on the left is the Casa Amatller (1890-1900) by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, built for the Amatller chocolate dynasty.
