Date with a stranger is a surreal interpretation of the well-known "Blind Date".
Most people suspect an equally beautiful face behind the roses. But doubts quickly set in. Roses are not only beautiful - they also have thorns. So, why is she hiding her face? Is she ugly, disfigured or crazy? Will I be delighted or horrified?
In the end, only one question remains:
Do I accept the invitation? Am I open and ready to accept what I do not yet know?
Or do I reject the invitation. The risk is too great for me and I prefer to dream of a beautiful face instead of looking at her real face.
In our virtual time it is more and more difficult to keep appearance and reality apart. However, with this picture I would like to encourage everyone to stay curious - without being naive. No disappointment is as great as a missed opportunity.
The picture is a typical mixed media of the New Contemporary Art. Here a 3D figure rendered by me and a photo were processed. Everything else was painted via graphics tablet.
I hope you like it - and please, stay curious.
Britta Glodde is a digital artist from Germany with Spanish residency and a self-confessed Aries. She has been drawing and painting since her father taught her - today she teaches herself: "I love trying new techniques. That's how I discovered the possibilities of digital art. I started with 3D rendering about 12 years ago, then I moved on to digital painting and for some time now I have been incorporating parts of photos into my works. My style may have changed over time, but my preferred subjects have not. I have a weakness for female beauty (faces and eyes mainly). I like to portray my fantasy ladies in a surreal context. My favourite series deals with women and food - which is not surprising when you know how passionate I am about feasting. Another passion of mine is imagining and writing fantasy worlds/stories. In other words: I think nothing is impossible - I believe in fairy tales - and I can discover magic everywhere. So if I can bring a little magic to your walls, I am very happy."
