aRi F. Huber Profile picture BORGWARD "HANSA 1500" A CAR THAT GOES TO THE WORLD Year unknown, Borgward Hansa 1500 Advertising, Germany Whoever owns it, the Borgward "Hansa 1500", is a lucky man.
The car is surprisingly manoeuvrable, very fast, desirably spacious, really economical and has an unsurpassable road-holding. In a word: Whoever owns it, the Borgward "Hansa 1500", is a lucky man. August 1952, advertisement in Quick special edition for the XV. Olympic Summer Games Helsinki August 1952 This is how the first serial passenger car with 100 km/h max. from Borgward was advertised in the 50s and this was not an easy task. Because after the war it was always about material allocations and these were very scarce at the beginning. Therefore Borgward divided his company in 1949 into three companies to get a better allocation, which were: ... Carl F. W. Borgward G. m. b. H. Automobil- und Motoren-Werke, main factory in Bremen-Sebaldsbrück ... Goliath-Werk G. m. b. H., plant in Bremen-Hastedt with, among others, the Goliath Goli ... Lloyd Maschinenfabrik G. m. b. H. with the later model Lloyd 300, Lloyd Alexander and Lloyd Arabella. In the end, only 33,841 examples of all Hansa 1500/1800 models were produced, but who had the money for an automobile at that time? And at that time there were far more motorbikes, trucks and tractors in general road traffic. The difference externally between the Hansa 1500 and 1800 is that the 1800 had the indicators mounted on the mudguards. The 1500 had them between the bumper and the headlights.

I have been practicing vintage car photography for more than 35 years and here I mainly photograph normal everyday vehicles which were still on the road en masse over 30 years ago. But also cars with extraordinary, beautiful design. From time to time I take pictures of cars, motorcycles and trucks of recent times, when they have particularly beautiful shapes, curves and somehow tempt to dream and drive like a BMW Z8. I find these automotive beauties not only in museums, but also in specialized workshops for vintage cars, with collectors who have invited me to photograph their classics or often in dark, dusty sheds and halls or simply parked at the roadside.
