About "Brothers forever"

by Jan Keteleer (JanKé): A Journey Beyond the Canvas

About the artwork

The painting shows two boys, facing away from the viewer, with their arms around each other as they look out at an imagined horizon. Each boy puts his hand on the other's shoulder – it's a gesture of trust, strength and a quiet promise of solidarity. This is a portrait of connection and the unspoken language of brotherhood – a universal symbol of shared journeys and mutual support.
The boys look pure and innocent against the white background, as if they have limitless potential. They're free of the distractions of a defined setting, which really emphasises their close bond as they stand together, ready to face the vast unknown that calls to them. The addition of earth and grass beneath their feet gives the painting a sense of reality, showing that even when we're dreaming big, it's the solid ground that keeps us steady.
This piece was inspired by a memory from childhood – a moment when companionship made the world seem full of endless possibilities. It invites the viewer to step into that shared space of warmth and wonder, reminding us of simpler times. It's a reminder to think about the people who have supported us, their arms around our shoulders, reminding us we didn't have to face the world alone.
