A heron in flight turns away from me just as I was about to take a picture. He had been circling me a few times on his way to his heron colony, but just as I shot he made a turn and disappeared to an unknown destination. Not to the colony anyway. The heron certainly had enough. In any case, it resulted in this photo.
I find herons beautiful and elegant. The wingspan is enormous, they come flying in like airplanes, and you can see them from far away, standing in their nests. And they make noise. They are not quiet little birds.
