"Driving Back to Work after Christmas" would also be a nice title for this photo. The date is 2 January 2023, the first Monday in the new year. And the light stripes of the cars on Coolsingel boulevard in Rotterdam are probably mainly related to commuting. After all, you don't get up that early for fun on a drizzly winter morning. Unless you are a photographer and love the city in the blue hour before sunrise.
That drizzle, by the way, does make for beautiful reflections in the pavement of Indian natural stone. And thankfully, despite the energy crisis, the festive lights are still on. Even the Christmas tree at City Hall is still there. Only the old post office, on the far right, is shrouded in relative darkness because of its conversion into a hotel and shopping mall.
