This beautiful shot of the Bossche Markt in the atmospheric historic center of 's-Hertogenbosch was photographed during the full moon in October.
Archaeological research revealed, that a well was constructed at that location in the 15th century. By then the market had already reached its present form for some time. It is certain, that in 1521 there was a well house on top of the well. This construction lasted less than century.
In 2011, the college of B&W decided to rebuild the current well house. The start of the Hieronymus Bosch Year (2016) is the main reason for this.
The design of the structure was inspired by a medieval painting depicting two similar structures. The painting from around 1530, titled The Cloth Market is seen from the Kerkstraat. The artwork, made by an anonymous painter, is owned by the North Brabant Museum, and is part of the permanent collection.
