The Phoenicopterus roseus is the only species of Flamingo found in the wild in the Netherlands. Great to see that they also occur here without any problems. In this case, I photographed them in the Grevelingenmeer, right along the shore. A large group, divided into two where one half was quietly walking around/foraging, looking left and right with every step.
The other half of the group was sleeping peacefully. The colours never cease to amaze me, from almost white to almost deep pink, verging on red even. And the details of these waterbirds, just bizarre, how beautiful a bird can be. Graceful with every movement. I stood/sat here for almost two hours enjoying these impressive waterbirds.
