Groynes on the quiet beach of Westenschouwen is a landscape photograph of breakwaters on the Zeeland coast of Schouwen-Duivenland, Zeeland. It was a beautiful afternoon on a cold day that was warmed by the sun. The beach was quiet and shrouded in a silent and serene atmosphere.
It was low tide and the water of the sea had retreated a bit. Here and there puddles of water were left behind in the sand and in the water a reflection of the double row of groynes could be seen.
The photo invites you to choose. Do you follow the water on the beach with a view of the horizon in front of you? Or do you follow the groynes towards the sea, leave the image and let your imagination run wild about what is to come?
