Hammer Smash Expression Abstract Art. Bright, vibrant and lively - all words that describe this eye-catching piece of abstract art, created using a hammer smash technique. Yes, exactly how it sounds, I used a hammer to create this piece. I have an area in my art studio in Italy allocated to this because of the paint spatter. But actually the hammer smash is very controlled and the head of the hammer is angled as appropriate to send the paint splatter in the required direction. Purple, red and yellow paint form part of the actual areas of paint splash. The colours are poured carefully on to each other to create a puddle and I added white at the top. The actual motion of the hammer smash then scatters the layers of paint, allowing the colours from lower down to escape onto the surface of the painting. As a technique, it is great fun to do and I think the vivacious nature of this piece gets that feeling of fun and zest for life.
Born in the South of England I now live half way up a mountain in Umbria, Italy. I work from my art studio looking out over fabulous views of the Italian countryside. I am so happy to share my artwork with you.
An artist and blogger, I specialize in photo art and acrylic painting. For my photo art, I start with my own photographs and work on them digitally to capture the feeling I want to convey with the final image. For my abstract work, I literally 'go with the flow' and follow where my heart wants to take me as I work.
I create art to make your heart smile, capturing the spirit of place in towns and villages, or creating art to enhance the energy of your home or workplace. Take your time to look through my portfolio, I hope you enjoy it.
