The locals of the Faroe Islands say they are happy when there is a day of sun, because it is usually cloudy, often windy and usually rains. Therefore, this is an image not often seen in the year: An almost clear sky at sunset. The Múlafossur waterfall on the Faroe Islands, an autonomous archipelago belonging to the kingdom of Denmark.
We had already driven by earlier in the week, but by then everything was wrapped in a thick layer of clouds. Super happy to be able to experience this moment on the evening before departure, after we had been completely rained two days earlier.
Incidentally, the road to it is an experience in itself: a 2 kilometer long tunnel, which is so narrow that only 1 car can drive at a time. Fortunately enough passing places carved into the rocks.
The image was created by stacking different photos so that a lot of detail is present in both the light and dark parts.
Camera used: Canon 5Ds R (50 megapixel), so this photo is suitable for a very large reproduction.
Normally I take photo's of (large) objects for customers, but another big passion is photographing beautiful landscapes. Anything beautiful might be something I would capture in my frame.
