MadameRuiz Profile picture Painting of a Scottish highlander on the plains,
done in watercolor in the colors brown, gray, caramel, taupe & white

A Scottish highlander, looking out over the plain. The beautiful, large beast, gazing to the right of the painting. To the left and right, we can still see abstract plantings here and there in soft brown tones, in front of a warm white with blue and caramel sky. The bulky beast with its beautiful, long locks, takes on a poetic look in this composition. Calm in atmosphere. Playful in appearance. Gentle in execution.

The Scottish Highlander gets its name from its original habitat. In fact, the Scottish Highlander is the original cattle of the western highlands of Scotland and the Hebrides. The highlander is a mostly reddish-brown breed of cattle with long hair and long horns. Yet they were all black in color until 1849.

Because they can graze outside all year round because of their thick coat, we also frequently see these cattle in Dutch nature and recreation areas. In 's-Hertogenbosch, I came across them routinely during my run. And that will sound familiar to many.

In addition, cows are also just lovely to bring into the house, especially with the upcoming winter and cold, these grazers feel like wonderful sources of warmth.

I am MadameRuiz, and am an artist by profession. I hope to delight you with my work. Here in my profile, or on your wall :) Both are fun!

Will you let me know what you think of my work? I would love to get in touch with you. Also when you have one of my works in your home I am very curious about the end result in your interior.

I love everything that has to do with art, culture and creativity. Experiencing, creating, teaching and communicating. Through language, image, non-verbal and through the musical voice.

I became known for my commissioned ink portraits. My work was first shown to a large audience in the program VTWonen Weer verliefd op je huis (February 2021). I make many ink portraits of and for individuals; from pregnancy portraits, wedding portraits, child portraits, love portraits and family portraits to portraits of pets such as dogs, cats, horses and birds. These ink portraits are all handmade by the way, drawn and painted with east indian ink on watercolor paper.

In my shop at work on the wall you can order my Digital Art. Because I normally work almost exclusively on commission, my autonomous art via Digital Art is really a wonderful experimental outlet. This also means that I keep experimenting with painting techniques and collage techniques using Photoshop. Although I love to experiment, quality comes first
