Picturesque with its narrow alleyways, cobble stones and stone walls, the walled village of Paciano in Umbria, Italy is on the list of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy ('I Borghi piu Belli d'Italia'). If you take a walk around the village you will understand why as you are greeted by peace, and pretty streets with wonderful architecture. There are several bars and restaurants. In festival season, the village is decorated with flags as shown here, the blue and red flags in the picture. The village divides up into 'contradas' or rival groups and compete against each other.
Entering Paciano you walk or drive through one of three medieval gates including the one shown here called Porta Rastrella. I say drive, but the streets are very narrow and only the locals drive through the middle. There is plenty of parking outside the walls.
The village dates back to the 13th century and sits under Mount Petravella. It has been designated 'I Borghi piu Belli d'Italia' - one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Born in the South of England I now live half way up a mountain in Umbria, Italy. I work from my art studio looking out over fabulous views of the Italian countryside. I am so happy to share my artwork with you.
An artist and blogger, I specialize in photo art and acrylic painting. For my photo art, I start with my own photographs and work on them digitally to capture the feeling I want to convey with the final image. For my abstract work, I literally 'go with the flow' and follow where my heart wants to take me as I work.
I create art to make your heart smile, capturing the spirit of place in towns and villages, or creating art to enhance the energy of your home or workplace. Take your time to look through my portfolio, I hope you enjoy it.
