Zoë Hoetmer about Portrait of Princess Sudhira Devi

My interpretation of classical paintings. I have a passion for antiquity and I am very nostalgic. That's why I like to work from my love for painting. I give them a contemporary look and embrace the classical style.

Original by Bassano Ltd 1910.
Princess Sudhira Mander, fought for better Anglo-Indian relations and was (both pre-war and Red Cross activism) associated with the Indian suffragette princess Sophia Duleep Singh.

Sudhira fell in love with her sister's brother-in-law, Alan Mander. Her mother wasn't happy about it and took her on an extended cruise, but Alan followed them diligently all over the world.

She lived with her husband in England, living in Kingston and Chelsea. Their mother described her as the most idiosyncratic of her children 'she would never do anything unless she wanted to'.

I work very realistically and get inspiration from the everyday for my work. I combine a touch of fantasy with observation. Because of my painting background I have a love for imitation and precision. I start from my own perspective and I find it important to incorporate my interests in my illustrations. Not afraid to get my hands dirty, and a neat worker!

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
