Portrait of a girl in blue, after Johannes Verspronck

MadameRuiz Profile picture This Urban Street Art variant of the portrait of a girl in blue is soft and tough at the same time. Endearing and refreshing.

> After the work of the old master: Johannes Verspronck . The original oil painting was painted in the seventeenth century during the Golden Age of the Republic of the United Netherlands. Now made available as open content by the National Collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.

I can still remember that about 15 years ago someone told me that this original work of art, next to La Primavera by the Italian Botticelli, was her absolute favourite. I was young, inexperienced and had never seen this painting in my life. I had started art school purely out of the inner need to create, but I had never taken art history itself that seriously. Now I teach there is, that's how life can run :)

But, coming back to this painting. It has something soft and endearing at the same time. The softness of the colors of her dress, her fluffy hair, the red blush on her cheeks and the texture of the feather she carries in her hands in the original painting (also seen in my other painting, 'The Straitjacket of Johannes Verspronck ' with work code: 965936 https://www.werkaandemuur.nl/nl/shopwerk/Het-keurslijf-van-Johannes-C-Verspronck---The-fashion-collection-No-/965936 )

But at the same time I feel sorry for the little girl, the little child, setting there all dressed up in her serious attitude, with her lace clothes, with gold embroidery and her pearls. If this were my own child I would ask if she is okay.

Nevertheless, I think it is a beautiful painting to look at and therefore extra fun to edit it now in this modern variant in which various layers of images are superimposed and hint into each other. In this way I give the good child a bit of brutality again.

A wonderful street art vibe of torn-off posters. The end of the show off, the beginning of reality. Because reality is always more layered than we can initially see with the naked eye.

I am MadameRuiz, and am an artist by profession. I hope to delight you with my work. Here in my profile, or on your wall :) Both are fun!

Will you let me know what you think of my work? I would love to get in touch with you. Also when you have one of my works in your home I am very curious about the end result in your interior.

I love everything that has to do with art, culture and creativity. Experiencing, creating, teaching and communicating. Through language, image, non-verbal and through the musical voice.

I became known for my commissioned ink portraits. My work was first shown to a large audience in the program VTWonen Weer verliefd op je huis (February 2021). I make many ink portraits of and for individuals; from pregnancy portraits, wedding portraits, child portraits, love portraits and family portraits to portraits of pets such as dogs, cats, horses and birds. These ink portraits are all handmade by the way, drawn and painted with east indian ink on watercolor paper.

In my shop at work on the wall you can order my Digital Art. Because I normally work almost exclusively on commission, my autonomous art via Digital Art is really a wonderful experimental outlet. This also means that I keep experimenting with painting techniques and collage techniques using Photoshop. Although I love to experiment, quality comes first
