My interpretation of classical paintings. I have a passion for antiquity and I am very nostalgic. That's why I like to work from my love for painting. I give them a contemporary look and embrace the classical style.
Original of Anthony van Dyck, An unknown 'Genoese noblewoman' in black cloak and red coral beads. Painted around 1621. This fascinating portrait was painted during the artist's Italian period and shows the apparent influence of his master Peter Paul Rubens.
How is it that with all the science and technology in the world we still refer to this beautiful woman as 'unknown'?
Illustrator and specialist painter
I work very realistically and get inspiration from the everyday for my work. I combine a touch of fantasy with observation. Because of my painting background I have a love for imitation and precision. I start from my own perspective and I find it important to incorporate my interests in my illustrations. Not afraid to get my hands dirty, and a neat worker!
