About "Remember Childhood Rain"

by Jan Keteleer (JanKé): A Journey Beyond the Canvas

About the artwork

This painting is a gentle glimpse into a memory, a fragment of my own childhood woven into the brushstrokes. It captures a brief, sacred moment of innocence – a boy and a girl, their small hands clasping a single umbrella, walking barefoot on a forest path after a summer rain. The air is heavy with the sweet smell of wet earth, and the light filters through the trees, catching the water droplets clinging to the leaves above.
The kids' bare feet sink gently into the cool, muddy path, each step sending droplets dancing into the air as puddles ripple and reflect the soft light. The umbrella isn't there to keep them dry, but to protect them from the heavy, playful rain that's still falling from the trees – nature's gentle teasing after the storm.
Painting this was about going back to the good times in my past, remembering how happy we were just doing simple things together without needing to talk. It was about capturing that feeling of oneness with nature that kids seem to understand so well – pushing past boundaries, even if it's as simple as walking barefoot.
I hope viewers feel the warmth of nostalgia, the freedom of those unguarded moments, and the reminder to cherish such unexpected joys through this piece.
