A large red heart painted with red wax. Very expressive with hands pulling at it.
In 1992 I graduated as a drawing and handicrafts teacher from the Catholic Teacher Training College in Sittard. Over the years I specialized in mixed media art with acrylic paint as a basis. From 2008 the emphasis has shifted more to abstract collages. I have worked a lot with various materials and techniques.
My latest work consists of wax paintings with bright and cheerful colors, here are all kinds of abstract representations. Especially many impressions of flowers, birds, fish or just beautiful color compositions. Working with wax is an intuitive process and therefore it is always surprising what is created. It is not entirely controllable because the wax flows out through the heat.
The album with Mixed media contains collages from the period 2009 -2014.
A great source of inspiration is the richness of organic forms and structures in nature, but also the interests in myths, ancient cultures, spirituality are getting more and more expression. The feeling and atmosphere of these elements is the essence; the ravages of time that these ornaments have endured seem to want to tell their own story. They symbolize tranquillity, beauty, a little mystery and timelessness in harmony with their surroundings. These elements can often be found in the themes of both painting and objects.
Get inspired!
Artistic greeting, Chris
