This photo was taken from the Zalmhavenentoren in Rotterdam, looking west, shortly before sunset.
Quite prominently in the foreground we see the former tax office on Puntegaalstraat, now a residential building. Connoisseurs can also effortlessly spot the little Norwegian church, the Machinist building, the Seafaring School and windmill the Distillery. Also noticeable is the busy evening rush hour at Drooglever Fortuynplein and Westzeedijk.
Further away, we see the Delfshaven and Schiemond neighbourhoods and, behind them, the river Nieuwe Maas. On the other side, it is the port and industry that dominate: a forest of chimneys, oil tanks, windmills, cranes and other installations, with a plume of smoke here and there.
