Tawny owls often have a favorite "roosting tree" or group of trees, a permanent spot where the they roost. Usually these are hidden spots, such as dense spruce or tree cavities. During the day they nip there for a nap. At night they fly out to hunt. With a full stomach, they return to their roosting place. Under such a place you can often find pellets, with which the owls dispose of indigestible prey remains such as bones and hair.
