Dragonflies have a robust and broad abdomen. The hind wings are wider at the base than the front wings. At rest the wings are spread or even slanted downwards. Dragonflies have large eyes, which (almost) touch each other on top of the head.
Damselflies have a long, thin abdomen. Unlike the dragonflies, all four of their wings have the same shape. The wings are folded together at rest along or above the abdomen. The eyes are shaped like a hemisphere and are placed on the sides of the head. The eyes of hustlers do not touch each other.
