Beauty can be found in the strangest places, if only you have an eye for it. I found this fascinating pattern, divided into 8 x 5 squares, on an industrial estate, on a small office building that was being renovated.
The tiles on the facade, about 25 by 25 centimetres, had been removed; chipped away, presumably. What was left behind were glue residues, or mortar, or whatever stuff they used at the time. With a fascinating, rather random pattern of stripes and planes. But even that layer has already partly disappeared.
The wall was shaded, from the top right, by the sun. That, through the shadow effect, gives extra depth to the pattern. And it gives the grey material a warm glow.
