About ‘Sunset at Westkapelle’ by Sander Poppe

The Walcheren coast, between Westkapelle and Domburg, is among the most beautiful parts of the Netherlands and a true inspiration for photographers and nature lovers. During an enchanting spring evening, the unique landscape, where the transition from sloping dunes to sturdy dykes with pile heads and rocks is beautifully visible, is especially to be enjoyed. This distinctive coastline, protected by artificial rocks, not only provides safety from the force of the North Sea, but also makes for an impressive backdrop.

On such an evening, even when the night sky fills with threatening rain clouds, there is an almost magical calm. The moment the sun slowly sets and the colours change on the horizon provides unique photo opportunities. Long shutter speed photography captures the movement of the water in a special way and shows the raw beauty of Zeeland's coast even more clearly.

Looking at the result on the camera display gives a sense of satisfaction - as if the evening has been completely successful. The Walcheren coastline, with its combination of nature and water management, is a destination you won't soon forget.
