After years of renovation, the ship has been moored at Katendrecht neighbourhood since 2008 and is in use as a hotel, cafe, restaurant and conference location.
It's very appropriate and visible location for the SS Rotterdam. The monumental steam ship can be seen from a great distance from various directions. This photo was taken from the Mullerpier on the other side of the river Nieuwe Maas.
The image was taken on one of the first Monday mornings of 2023, shortly before sunrise, as part of the January Blue Mondays project.
In the foreground, the long shutter speed creates a nice reflection in the water of the Maas. In the background, we see some industrial context on the southern quay of Maashaven harbour, including the complex of Meneba (the Flour Factory of Dutch Bakeries)
