About the artwork
A gravel path winds its way through the autumn-coloured forests of Bois de Viné, near the well-known village of Durbuy in Belgium. The path leads you into the picture towards the light in the distance, like a lifeline through the forest. The orange, yellow and green leaves alternate and compete in full contrast for your attention.... The contrasting orange and green leaves compete for your attention. As you walk along the path of life, you look left and right at the beautiful scenes before you.
Autumn in 2022 lasted a long time due to the beautiful warm Indian summer. Even into December, the leaves remained on the trees. As a result, some trees were already in their autumnal glory while others were still plenty green. This produced beautiful contrasting images. Because the path eventually split in two, an opening in the foliage was created back there. The path seems to end in the emerging soft sunlight, while the foreground has some dark tones in it. This gives the photo a wonderful depth.
