The sea of flowers | Watercolor painting

The Sea of Flowers is a hand painted watercolor painting and shows dozens of colorful flowers and plants in different colors and shapes.
Some of the plants have leaves and the others a flower with them.
This painting has both an abstract and expressionistic painting style, with the flowers and plants having a cheerful illustrative look.

I created this work specifically for a design contest to illustrate packaging for a MyMuesli tube. This was to mark the 10th anniversary of Werk aan den Muur and the 15th anniversary of MyMuesli.

The work also looks a bit like a wallpaper pattern, but this is not the case. All the flowers and plants were individually illustrated and colored in with watercolors. The work was then photographed in high resolution and digitally post-processed for optimal results as an atmospheric wall decoration. This painting is available as an Artprint on your desired material and size.

The studio of painter and designer Ricardo Bouman. Ricardo is a watercolourist with a passion for travelling and discovering beautiful landscapes, cities and architecture. When it comes to painting, he enjoys painting realism and, since a few years, impressionist and abstract art.

Ricardo has been painting with watercolour for over 25 years, translating his own travel experiences into paintings and illustrations. He does painting in the traditional way, with the whole process being done in a handmade way. From stretching the watercolour paper, sketching the composition to painting with watercolours. The work is then photographed in high resolution, making the painting available in high quality as an art print in a desired size.

Ricardo paints both artistically and illustratively using a variety of painting techniques and styles. His subjects often have a connection to nature, an emotion or a location he has visited himself.
