The storm arrives | Watercolour painting

'The storm arrives' is a minimalist watercolour painting of a landscape with a beautiful Dutch cloud sky just before a thunderstorm.
The painting is painted in watercolour where the wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry watercolour techniques were used.

The clouds have a soft look where bright blue sky can also be seen in some places.
On the left in the picture, thunderstorms come blowing in overshadowing the grassland with dark clouds, while on the right in the picture the clouds and landscapes are still illuminated by sunlight.
The polder landscape consists of fresh green grass with some farm roads and tree-lined areas. In the background of the painting, rain is already starting to fall.

In short, a typical Dutch scene where weather and climate play a dynamic role.

Ricardo does everything in a traditional way. From stretching the watercolor paper, sketching and drawing the composition and subject, to painting with watercolors and inks.
