About "The woman and Mondrian"

by Jan Keteleer (JanKé): A Journey Beyond the Canvas

About the artwork

This work was created through my knowledge of classical and modern art techniques that I apply digitally. The work is part of my series that I dedicate entirely to the female image in our society and their struggle to be recognized. In this series I portray powerful women alongside women who are open to showing their emotions. The observant viewer will notice that I take a run at the prevailing art styles that I freely mix into one work. I do not feel bound to expressionism, impressionism, fauvism or even pop art, for example. I mix them in such a way to express that not one but all art styles are the best that has been developed before.

It is the same with people, there is no one better, more beautiful than the other; We are equal in all our differences has always been my point of view. Why I portray women the most is because I always stand up for the oppressed. It just so happens that many men hate women which I cannot understand.

This work was printed by myself in 1 edition and is the "masterproof " for reproductions sold worldwide on various materials. The "masterproof" is available for sale upon request.

Various sizes and prints on other materials are available here as reproductions of this work.
