You rarely see the Erasmus Bridge like this in photos.... But also the underside of Rotterdam's iconic Swan, with a slender steel structure on sturdy concrete sculptures, is very nicely designed.
On this blue Monday in January, the bridge comes in handy as a shelter. It's a rainy day; this might not have been the best day to get up early and take photos of the city in the blue hour.
Still, this photo is definitely atmospheric. The pavement on the quay shines; that's a bonus of the wet weather. Spido's canal boats wait for tourists who will undoubtedly arrive later in the morning; the picnic tables in the foreground await a warmer season.
In the background, we see the modern high-rise buildings on Kop van Zuid, including De Rotterdam building. The sky shows the first traces of dawn, but in this blue hour on a blue Monday, is mostly purple for now.
