Wouwse Plantage is a town in North Brabant named after estate and forestry park Wouwse Plantage.
Originally, oaks and beeches were planted on the higher parts, and alders on the lower, moister parts. In the 18th century, beech and grove pine forests were planted. In the second half of the 18th century, the Grote Houwer, formerly a pond, was added to the plantation, and shifting sands were forested in a westerly direction. Scots pine was planted on these extensions. The 19th-century private owners transformed the area around Plantation Centre in landscape style. Still existing ponds (Mosven, Bergsven) were transformed into forest ponds, rhododendrons and other shrubs were planted. The so-called Woeste Gedeelte was planted and is now an old mixed forest. Here the relief is up to 20 metres high. The Borgvliet Dunes, to the west of the estate, are still partly a shifting sand area.
Breeding birds include: nuthatch, woodlark, green woodpecker, shelduck, little grebe, little grebe, sparrowhawk, long-eared owl, nightjar, crossbill, black woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker, lesser spotted woodpecker, siskin and warbler.
This work is by Gerard van der HEIJDEN (Ravenstein 1864 - Sint-Oedenrode 1939) and concerns a pastel on paper. Originally oval-shaped, it is classically framed and belongs to private ownership. A beautiful, tranquil work of art that is never boring and timeless.
Contemporary images and even those from the past inspire me to recycle them for re-actionary contemporary impressionist art. My drawings and paintings are sketch impressions in a loose and free style, the paintings in a colorful palette. I also produce collages and digital artworks or find new inspirations and compositions through paint strokes from existing works. I work fast, from emotion, averse to perfection, careful not to lapse into details and endless fiddling.
Compositions in an almost unfinished state, works that are part of the contemporary impressionist incentive. Evolving towards a more questioning abstract essential contemporary expressive impressionism.
With the internet we are overloaded with thousands of images a day, wonderful. But does original art on the wall still have a future? Yes, you can touch them, feel them, smell them. Paintings and drawings that move and stimulate you, that give you attention and immerse you every day in a bath of total relaxation and pleasure. People say that I am one of the most appreciated and renowned post-war art painters from South Limburg. I sell my original works all over the world. I very much appreciate the cooperation with Werk aan de Muur / Oh my Prints because my originals are now also available for everyone through excellent, high quality re-productions.
