Wierdendorp Ezinge in northern Groningen in the Netherlands. A wierde or terp is an artificial hill, raised to have a dry place at high tide. Such hills occur along the entire coast of the Wadden Sea. Wierden were not only made to be inhabited by humans, but also to protect the cattle and to grow types of comfort wood that can be badly wet.
