Zebra - Stripes of Africa - Collage from my Art Journal

MadameRuiz Profile picture This collage is part of my art journal. Playfully, I got to work with magazines and acrylic paint. This collage was inspired by the theme 'stripes'. The word stripes immediately made me think of the stripe pattern on zebras. And therefore also of Africa. After all, the zebra is an animal from central and southern Africa. This image is incredibly fun to combine with other images from my art journal album. So be sure to take a look in this album too https://www.werkaandemuur.nl/nl/shopalbum/Collages---Art-Journal-pagina-s/125804/71937 Creation process: On the background, I painted with acrylic paint in brown, green, blue and ochre on a black background. Over this, I used transparent gel to stick on various images from magazines, such as the zebra and the pattern in turquoise green. Over that, I stuck pieces of washi tape and used a black, white and gold marker to draw the. This allows the stripes of the zebra to continue in the stripes of the washi tape and make it one whole. This whole was then photographed and given a digital filter. This filter ensures that up close (if at a large size) the collage gives beautiful abstract surfaces and from afar (or in miniature) you can see the image in totality.

I am MadameRuiz, and am an artist by profession. I hope to delight you with my work. Here in my profile, or on your wall :) Both are fun!

Will you let me know what you think of my work? I would love to get in touch with you. Also when you have one of my works in your home I am very curious about the end result in your interior.

I love everything that has to do with art, culture and creativity. Experiencing, creating, teaching and communicating. Through language, image, non-verbal and through the musical voice.

I became known for my commissioned ink portraits. My work was first shown to a large audience in the program VTWonen Weer verliefd op je huis (February 2021). I make many ink portraits of and for individuals; from pregnancy portraits, wedding portraits, child portraits, love portraits and family portraits to portraits of pets such as dogs, cats, horses and birds. These ink portraits are all handmade by the way, drawn and painted with east indian ink on watercolor paper.

In my shop at work on the wall you can order my Digital Art. Because I normally work almost exclusively on commission, my autonomous art via Digital Art is really a wonderful experimental outlet. This also means that I keep experimenting with painting techniques and collage techniques using Photoshop. Although I love to experiment, quality comes first
