About ‘Branches and Surfaces’ by Color Square

A soft, abstract botanical composition in which white leaves appear to float one over the other. The leaves are built up with thick, deliberate brushstrokes, giving each leaf a tactile veined texture. These tactile white forms are set against calm areas of colour in beige, powder pink, ochre, brown and a small dark grey accent. The composition feels minimalistic and harmonious, yet remains lively thanks to the varied textures and subtle overlaps.

It is striking how the branch runs through the image as a thin, almost fragile line, connecting the leaves. Some leaves are partially obscured by areas of colour, whilst others stand out due to their relief-like paint build-up. The small golden area at the top left and the warm rust-brown shape at the bottom lend the work an unexpected depth and understated luxury. The horizontal brushstrokes in the pink area at the bottom right also form a beautiful contrast with the curved veins of the leaves.

The image exudes tranquillity, natural elegance and modern simplicity. It fits well within botanical art, abstract art and minimalist wall décor, with a refined balance between organic forms and geometric areas of colour.
