About ‘Flower Power’ by Arjen Roos

This work, called 'Flower power', is a mixed-media collage in which different elements come together. We see a portrait of a woman dressed in a military uniform, surrounded by images of cities and golden elements. On her head she wears a striking showtime hat, which adds an extra festive touch. But the most striking element in this work is the arm with a v-shaped hand, a familiar gesture of peace and protest. This collage invites a deeper interpretation. Perhaps the woman is a symbol of strength and courage, while the cities and gold elements represent power and wealth. But the very gesture of peace also conveys a message of hope and change. It is a work that invites thought and reflection, challenging the viewer to look beyond the surface.
