About ‘Making friends’ by Arjen Roos

As an artist, my passion is to bring emotion and imagination to life through my paintings. One of my recent works is the painting "Making Friends", a surreal scene that stimulates the imagination and takes the viewer to a magical encounter.

The painting shows a little girl in a rowboat surrounded by the vastness of the sea during sunset. She looks in wonder at a majestic whale rising out of the water. The interaction between the girl and the whale exudes a sense of friendship and connection, as if they have forged a special bond in this unlikely moment.

The use of colour and contrast plays an important role in this work. The warm hues of the sunset reflect in the water and create an enchanting atmosphere. At the same time, the vibrant colours of the girl and the whale contrast with the serene background, making them really stand out and grab the viewer's attention.

The "Making Friends" painting invites the viewer to immerse themselves in a world of imagination and wonder. It evokes feelings of joy, wonder and connection, and reminds us that friendship and magic can be found everywhere, even in unexpected places.
