"Under the Painted Scheveningen Pier" is a digital painting based on a series of 19 photos I took during a walk on the Scheveningen beach. The photos were so colourful and intriguing that I could not resist combining them into one image. The painting shows a unique view under the painted pier, where the light falls through the poles and the colourful graffiti on the walls. The composition is chosen so that the pier rises above the image, making it seem as if the viewer is standing under the pier itself. The colours are bold and vibrant, creating a sense of energy and movement, and there are many small details in the painting that bring it to life. Like the various graffiti on the walls, the chipped paint on the posts and the shadows created by the light. This gives a unique view of the underside of a pier, a place that is often overlooked.
