Reflectifications

Buildings, trees or other objects, reflected in water with light waves or ripples, resulting in a colorful oil painting with chance as the master. The ultimate snapshot, because a thousandth of a second later the image already looks completely different. The weather conditions in the Netherlands are rarely ideal. It should be almost windless, with small ripples on the water causing some distortion in the reflections. But not too much distortion because then it becomes too abstract. And ideally, the facades, trees or other reflective objects are illuminated by the sun, because otherwise the result tends to become too gloomy. I take the pictures with a very fast shutter speed. I usually keep quays, banks and other contexts out of the frame. Although a leaf, twig or a duck sometimes provides a funny detail. I mirror the image around the horizontal axis, creating a magical effect, as if you were looking up from below the water surface. A unique way to see the city. Reflectifications, I have no other word for it.
