BMW F 900 XR Riding Free at Golden Hour

When I painted this BMW F 900 XR, I wanted to hold on to a feeling many of us know: the moment the road opens up and the world seems to breathe with you. The rider leans into a winding mountain road, moving toward you on a bold diagonal that carries the eye from the left foreground into the bend beyond.

I built the background with thick impasto brushwork, a technique where paint is laid on so heavily that every stroke stays visible. Those textured, sweeping marks let the hills, the asphalt and the clouds dissolve into motion, while the motorcycle and rider stay sharp and present. The blurred wheels and streaking lane markings speak of speed, yet the painting feels calm to me.

Color tells the story. On one side, a golden-hour sky bursts with gold, orange and soft white light. On the other, storm clouds gather in deep blue and slate gray. The rider, dressed in full black gear, catches that warm glow along the helmet, shoulders and fairing.

For me, this work is about freedom and about the quiet courage it takes to keep moving between light and shadow. I hope it invites you to remember your own open road.
