BMW R 1250 RT on a Golden Mountain Road

When I painted this BMW R 1250 RT, I wanted to capture more than a machine on a road. I wanted to hold onto that quiet moment when the sun lowers behind the mountains and the whole world turns to gold. I built the landscape with thick impasto strokes, layering paint so heavily that you can almost feel the ridges with your fingertips. Ochre, amber, terracotta and deep gold glow across the rocky slopes, warming everything they touch.

Against that warmth, the motorcycle stands in cool metallic greys and silvers. The rider, wrapped in a black helmet, leather jacket and boots, leans gently into the road ahead. I let the horizontal brushstrokes stretch across the asphalt and sweep through the background, so the painting itself seems to move forward.

For me, this scene is about freedom, but also about solitude and connection. Every rider knows this feeling: alone on the road, yet part of something much larger. The long shadow on the pavement reminds me that every journey leaves a trace, however brief.

I hope this painting invites you to pause, breathe, and remember your own open road, the one that carried you somewhere new, and perhaps closer to yourself.
