BMW R 1300 GS Adventure in Golden Rain

I painted this BMW R 1300 GS Adventure as a portrait of a moment many of us know: the instant the storm begins to break. A lone rider leans into a winding mountain road, slick with rain, while golden light spills through the clouds and turns the wet asphalt into a ribbon of mirrored sky.

I let my brushstrokes move the way the road moves. Broad, sweeping marks of gold, slate blue and white follow every curve, so the surface seems to shimmer and pull you forward. The bronze and silver tones of the bike catch the warmth, and the headlight answers the sun with its own small glow.

Around the rider, the landscape breathes in olive, ochre and forest green. Hazy mountains fade toward the horizon, and on the right the sky stays cool and restless. That contrast between warm and cool is, for me, the heart of the painting. It holds both the uncertainty of the journey and the promise that light returns.

This is a solitary ride, yet I don't see it as lonely. Each of us travels our own road through weather we cannot choose. In that shared experience, I find freedom, and I hope you find it here too.
