BMW R 1300 GS Chasing the Golden Light

When I began this painting, I wanted to capture more than a machine. I wanted to paint the feeling of a road that keeps unfolding, one curve at a time. The BMW R 1300 GS became my companion in that search, its boxer engine and tall windshield catching the last warm light of the day.

I built the surface with impasto, applying paint so thickly that every stroke holds its own ridge of texture. The gravel road sweeps in from the lower corner in long, restless movements of gray, blue, and cream, as if the earth itself is moving beneath the wheels. Around it, the hills glow in ochre and gold, while distant mountains fade into soft blue and purple.

I chose to let warm and cool colors meet in tension. The sun burns golden in the sky, yet the shadows on the road stay deep and quiet. For me, that contrast mirrors every journey: light and doubt traveling side by side.

The rider leans forward, fully present, alone yet never truly lonely. In that posture I recognize myself, and perhaps you will too. This painting is my invitation to slow down, breathe, and follow the road wherever it leads.
