The sun is up and trying to dispel the fog in the forests surrounding the Hatertse vennen.The morning stood has gold in its mouth was certainly true this time! The golden colors give a warm glow over this beautiful nature reserve. The Hatertse vennen at its most beautiful. This nature reserve near Nijmegen is a popular place to photograph the sunrise. At the end of the summer the heather starts to bloom purple, which gives the landscape a beautiful glow.Hatertse en Overasseltse Vennen is a fen area of about 520 hectares in the municipalities Heumen and Wijchen, Gelderland province. The area consists of about twenty named fens and the surrounding river dune, heathland and forest area. The area lies southwest of Nijmegen. Once this area, southwest of Nijmegen, was created by the Waal and the Maas. Both rivers are now some distance away, but because of the river clay they left behind you can now enjoy the more than 20 fens.
