Cats abstract colourful

This abstract, colourful painting of cats fills the entire canvas with cats’ heads stacked closely together. Each head is composed of angular patches of colour in blue, orange, green, yellow and pink, sharply outlined with black contour lines. Pointed ears, triangular noses and long white whiskers recur throughout, lending the whole composition a strong sense of rhythm.

The composition is reminiscent of Cubism, in which each face breaks down into planes yet remains fully recognisable. No two cats have the same colour distribution: in one, a blue section runs across the muzzle; in another, the face is divided into orange and green. The eyes are large and sharply defined throughout, and all look in slightly different directions, which brings the group to life. The loose brushstrokes in the background ensure that the heads stand out without the image becoming cluttered.

With so much colour together, this work has a cheerful and distinctive feel. Hung on a white wall in a living room, a hallway or a playroom, it instantly brings the space to life.

For cat lovers, this piece speaks for itself, but anyone who simply enjoys colour and modern art will also find something to their liking here. Nine cats who are clearly well accustomed to one another.
