About "Coolhaven on a Blue Monday"

About the artwork

As part of the photo project "January's Blue Mondays", I set the alarm clock five times very early to take photos of Rotterdam in the blue hour.

In this photo of Coolhaven harbour, blue does indeed predominate. Yet there are important supporting roles for green, yellow and reddish tones.

The green is entirely due to the Euromast, Rotterdam's iconic watchtower and heirloom from the 1960 Floriade horticulture exhibition.

The yellow and red are produced by the lighting in and around the buildings on the quay. The building that stands out the most in this regard is De Machinist. This was once the school where machinists for the merchant navy were trained. Behind it, we see another large historical structure: the former tax office on Puntegaalstraat, nowadays a residential building.

On the left, we can still see the pumping station at the Park Locks and a piece of the Coolhaven bridge, and on the right, the modest accommodation of a temporary fish restaurant.

It is, on this fourth Monday of January, almost windless. Together with the long shutter speed, this makes for a beautiful reflection in the water of Coolhaven.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
