Flying fish and the sun: symbolism

The painting ‘Flying Fish and the Sun’ depicts a golden fish moving gracefully through a swirling sea of blue, purple and ochre-coloured waves, with fiery orange fins fluttering behind it like flames. Directly in front of the fish, a radiant sun with a delicate ornamental pattern glows, its light spreading across the entire scene in thin rays. All around, expressive waveforms and graceful curls wind their way through the composition, lending it a dynamic, almost dreamlike movement, whilst small, mysterious figures are hidden amongst the waves.

Warm shades of gold and orange, combined with an imaginative, exclusive design, give this photo print an enchanting presence that brings any space to life. The contrast between the blazing sun and the deep, cool blues of the surrounding sea creates a vivid sense of tension, whilst every scale of the fish and every wave is rendered with striking precision. This detailed linework gives the work a rich texture that reveals new details every time you look at it up close.

This depiction draws its power from mythical tales of fish and solar symbolism, in which light, water and freedom converge in a single poetic image. By having the fish swim straight towards the sun, a mesmerising interplay between movement and light is created. Nothing in the composition appears haphazard; every wave and ray reinforces the sense of a story in full swing.

This fairy-tale-like artwork is perfectly suited to a playful, artistic or eclectic interior where imagination is valued. Available on various materials and in multiple sizes, the enchantment of this scene remains compelling on any scale.
