Fragmented Rhythms in Ochre and Jazz

Three musicians locked in performance fill this vibrant canvas, their figures simultaneously whole and shattered by the painter's cubist vision. On the left, the saxophonist leans into his melody, his tan and ochre suit dissolving into a mosaic of warm geometric planes. At center, the trumpeter tilts his head back, horn raised, his dark silhouette fractured into angular shards of burnt orange and deep brown. To the right, the double bassist anchors the composition, his tall instrument rising like a wooden column amid the visual storm.

Bold, dark lines slice across the surface in every direction, carving the scene into interlocking triangles, trapezoids, and irregular fragments. These aren't merely structural — they pulse. They mimic the syncopated rhythms and spontaneous riffs of a live jazz set, translating sound into form.

The palette burns with earthy warmth: ochres and bronzes crowd against cream and muted green, with deep blacks cutting through like a walking bassline. Heavy impasto brushwork adds physical texture, each directional stroke building a surface you can almost feel.

There is no single fixed perspective here — only movement, overlap, and energy. This painting doesn't depict jazz so much as it becomes it.
