Tips for use

About ‘John o' Groats’ by Michael Valjak

This sign is probably the most popular motif in the town of John o' Groats in northeastern Scotland. The name John o' Groats should derive from the Dutchman Jan de Groot, who in 1496 got the ferry rights to the offshore Orkney Islands. The village is spread over a fairly large area, is accordingly common and has about 300 inhabitants.
