Panorama of Jordaan Noordermarkt in Amsterdam.
The Noordermarkt is a square in the Jordaan in Amsterdam. It lies on the Prinsengracht near the Westerstraat. The Lindenstraat, Boomstraat and Noorderkerkstraat end at the square. The Noorderkerk stands on the square.
When the square was built in 1616, it was called the Prinsenmarkt, after the Prinsengracht. After the completion of the Noorderkerk in 1623 the name Noordermarkt replaced the name given by the city council. Until 1655, the square was largely occupied by the cemetery adjacent to the church.
As a child, there was already a predilection for visual art. As a technician, I was always creative in products, services and working methods. In later years, more time was taken for my art (photography) passion.
