This young male and slightly older female have been around my house since autumn. I already noticed from the behavior that they liked each other, normally kingfishers are solitary in winter, they tolerate each other's company regularly. Now the breeding season has arrived and although they both still have to celebrate their first birthday, they are busy planning their offspring.
I took two pictures within a minute and merged them into this beautiful image, on the left the female. At the full 45 megapixels of the sublime Nikon D850.
