Kingfisher - Shake it off

Not every dive by a kingfisher is a hit, especially in winter, when fish seek the warmer water layers in the depths and they have to dive deeper.
After diving, they then often show 'displacement behaviour' they briefly shake the feathers dry and sometimes make a noise out of frustration.
I was reminded of this behaviour when seeing this picture, where the water slides off the wingtips very nicely.
However, as a photographer, every failed dive is also another chance for a nice action shot, as in this case.

Hopefully, this development will not be at the expense of the appreciation of authentic, traditional art forms.
